L'hypothénus est le plus grand côté d'un triangle rectangle. Il se calcule notamment grâce au célèbre théorème de Pythagore : le carré de l'hypothénuse est égal à la somme des carrés des côtés opposé et adjacent à l'hypothénus.
Par exemple : Soit ABC le triangle rectangle en B. AC est l'hypothénus donc :
AC² = AB² + BC²
